Run and Touch the Sky has arrived!

It’s release day again! I can’t believe this is my tenth book! Thank you to everyone who’s been with me through this amazing journey, starting with THE SIGHT SEER back in 2013.

Run and Touch the Sky Cover

Today it’s all about RUN AND TOUCH THE SKY, a book that is very dear to me. As much as I struggled with this book, I’m proud with the end result, and I hope you enjoy it, too!

Purchase the ebook on Amazon! (Print coming soon!)

Again, this is a novella, which means it’s not part of the main story which features Irina as the narrator, but this book, like BY THE MORNING LIGHT, is very, very important to the Smoke and Mirrors series. In fact, a character introduced in RATTS (like that abbreviation?) is probably the most important character in the whole series (well, Irina is pretty important, too 😉 )! You can read this one on its own, but I strongly suggest reading the story in the order they were released:

  1. The Fading Dusk
  2. The Burning Chaos
  3. By the Morning Light
  4. The Whispering Echoes
  5. Run and Touch the Sky
  6. ???????????? (coming 2018!)

Yes, this is the penultimate book in the Smoke and Mirrors series. It’s almost over! But until then, I hope you enjoy Nerine’s story and RUN AND TOUCH THE SKY.

Title Reveal for Book 3!

Hello! I have some exciting news today. It’s time to reveal the title of the third book in the Smoke and Mirrors series. Are you ready?

Book three will be called…

THE WHISPERING ECHOES

What do you think? I’m rather fond of this one, and I think it goes nicely with The Fading Dusk and The Burning Chaos.

So, I really can’t tell you much about the book. I’d share the blurb, but I need to finish writing it it’s full of spoilers. Here’s what I can say about The Whispering Echoes:

  • It starts off right where The Burning Chaos left off.
  • Claudette and Emile from By the Morning Light are indeed in this book.
  • You might need tissues…

You can go ahead and add The Whispering Echoes to your Goodreads to-read list. And, as always, there’s a Pinterest board!

The Whispering Echoes will be released in 2017! Stay tuned for an official book release date and a cover reveal!

Cover Reveal: The Burning Chaos

I’m so, so excited to share the cover of The Burning Chaos! In fact, I was supposed to do the reveal in May, but once I saw it I knew I couldn’t wait any longer!

And I’m not going to be mean and tease you and make you scroll down and down and down…

The Burning Chaos_Final-high

Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL?!?! When I first saw it, I screamed. How could I not?! I asked Regina Wamba of Mae I Designs for fire AND snow and to give it a darker feel since this IS a dark book, and she totally nailed it. Why the fire? Why the snow? Why am I calling this a dark book? Well, you’re just going to have to read it, aren’t you?

I have another treat for you; the full wrap. Let me warn you, though, that the blurb contains spoilers for The Fading Dusk, so if you haven’t read the first book yet, don’t read the blurb! But you can still look at and admire the gorgeous wrap!

The Burning Chaos_Final

Two months after Bantheir’s betrayal, Irina is learning how to live in a world where magic is not only real, but a part of her everyday life. As a spy for Parnaby, the shadowy president of the city of Dusk, Irina has to pretend Parnaby’s manipulation magic worked on her and she doesn’t remember his horrifying proclamation about Vernen. If her friend, brought back from the dead by an ancient source of magic, begins to show even a hint of magic, Parnaby will kill him without hesitation.

When a mysterious woman named Aeonia confronts Irina, she threatens to tell Parnaby everything Irina is hiding from him if Irina doesn’t steal a magical artifact from the president’s mansion. Knowing she’s the only one who can protect Vernen, Irina agrees to Aeonia’s demands, but she wonders if this ultimate betrayal will destroy her newfound happiness with Leonid—and get her killed in the process.

With elements of magic, mystery, and murder, The Burning Chaos takes readers on a dangerous journey through Dusk, introducing them to new characters and reuniting them with old favorites. Can Irina stay one step ahead of everyone and save Vernen? Or is she doomed to succumb to the magic she once loved but now despises?

*flails* I love everything about it. The deteriorating frame, the birds, Dusk in the background. It captures the essence of this book perfectly!

The Burning Chaos is out July 12th!

What’s that? You want to see all three books in the Smoke and Mirrors series together? I can do that!

Which one is your favorite? I don’t think I can choose; I love them all!

Title Reveals!

Last year I published THE FADING DUSK, the first book in the Smoke and Mirrors series. This year, as long as everything goes to plan, I will be publishing the next book and a novella. Today I’m happy to announce the titles for each one!

First off, the title for the second Smoke and Mirrors book is:

THE BURNING CHAOS

Do you like it? I’m going to wait to share the blurb when I do the cover reveal in May (as it contains spoilers for book one!), but I can tell you that this book features more magic, murder, and mystery as Irina’s adventure continues in the city of Dusk. Look for it in July, and add it to your Goodreads to-read list now! You can also visit my Pinterest board for some hints as to what the book is about!

Next up we have the novella’s title:

BY THE MORNING LIGHT

I’m not going to lie; I really love this title. It fits with the other Smoke and Mirrors titles, but at the same time it’s also slightly different. Which describes BY THE MORNING LIGHT perfectly. Set in the same world as the other books, this novella features a whole new cast of characters in an entirely different city. While this is a prequel story, I feel it’s best if it’s read after THE BURNING CHAOS (but you can read them in whichever order you like. Neither spoils the other!). Both THE BURNING CHAOS and BY THE MORNING LIGHT set up book three (which does have a title, but I’m going to keep that to myself for now!), which I will be drafting soon (can’t wait!). I’m about 90% sure BY THE MORNING LIGHT will be out in September, but that could change. For now, you can find it on Goodreads! Also, don’t forget to check out its Pinterest board, which I’ve spent many hours staring at. I will definitely talk more about BY THE MORNING LIGHT in the upcoming months. It’s a story I wasn’t planning on writing, but one that I’m glad I did.

What do you think of the titles? I hope you’re as excited about these books as I am!

No, I haven’t forgotten about this blog.

WHAT? AN UPDATE? HOW CAN THAT BE?!?!

Yes, I’m fully aware that I pretty much suck when it comes to updating this blog. This is what happens when I’m writing and editing. I tend to forget about things like my blog or my Facebook page. It’s bad but it’s also good because it means I’m busy!

So what have I been up to? Earlier this year I wrote the second book in the Smoke and Mirrors series (I really need to reveal the title of that soon!). It, sadly, was not perfect (not that I expected it to be, but that would have been nice!) and required a bit of editing/deleting/rewriting and all that fun stuff. I wrote the ending three times before I got it right, but guess what? I might go back and change it again! Why? One of the things I like to do to get to know new characters is write short stories from their POVs. In the Smoke and Mirrors series, I introduce new characters in book 2 and even MORE new characters in book 3 (which is still an outline at this point!). Sometimes it’s hard for me to throw a character in the middle of another character’s story (in this case, Irina’s story). I want to know who this other character is, but it’s hard to get inside of their head when I’m writing strictly from another character’s POV. So that’s why they get their own short stories (Phil’s story in A Promise of Magic is a perfect example of this. I wrote that story BEFORE I wrote The Soul Healer, even though it takes place AFTER that novel! It really helped me get a feel for both him and Kain, which is why I didn’t have any trouble writing them in The Soul Healer. I already knew, for example, that Phil was a picky eater and that Kain liked to say foolish things.). I decided in October to write a story from the POV of  a character that will make her first appearance in book 3. It started off as a little project, but now it’s evolved into this much bigger story that’s given me a ton of new ideas for book 3. The only problem is I now have to go back and tweak some things in book 2. I don’t think it’ll be too many changes, though! It’s just a lot of work during the craziest time of the year. I’m hoping once things calm down in January I’ll be able to wrap everything up and polish the short story so it’s ready to be shared soon after I publish book 2. And then I’ll get to work on book 3, which I actually cannot wait to start writing, all because I decided to write this short story.

So that’s where I am, writing wise. I’d been hoping to write two novels this year, but I’m happy with one novel and one short story (which will hopefully not be THAT long, but who knows with me). I can’t make any promises about no longer neglecting this blog and I want to thank everyone who’s still sticking around to read my random rambles. You’re awesome.

Also, The Fading Dusk went on a blog tour! If you’re interested in reading my interviews, some excerpts from the novel, and all the lovely reviews that were posted, then check out this link!

News! News! News!

In case you didn’t see the title, I have news!

So, you know how A PROMISE OF MAGIC, the second Silver Moon Saga novella, is scheduled for January 27th, 2015? I’m going to be honest with you. I was never happy with that date. And I know you guys weren’t happy with that date, either. It was too far away, and also too close to THE SHADOW STEALER’S release date of February 27th. I always felt like there should be more time between releases, but I didn’t want to make you wait even longer for the final book, so I picked what I thought were the best possible dates.

A PROMISE OF MAGIC, like AN AUTUMN DREAM, consists of three stories. In addition to the titular story (which is told from Evan’s POV), there’s also THE FAVOR (told from Philip’s POV) and AN UNBEATABLE TEAM (told from Gabi’s POV). Unlike the final book in the series, these short stories were easy (and fun!) to write. The manuscript has been beta-read, edited, and revised, and it’s been sitting on my computer for the past few months ready to go. Waiting, and waiting, and waiting… Just like you all have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting…

So the other day I decided to ask my awesome publisher a question:

Me: Okay, you can totally say no because I know this is a crazy question, but is there any possible way we can publish my novella earlier? FEEL FREE TO SAY NO.

Her: Yeah, that’s totally cool.

Me: O________O!!!

SO GUESS WHAT?! The new publication date for A PROMISE OF MAGIC is now…. Drum roll please!

NOVEMBER 20TH, 2014!!!!!!!!!

Yes, November 20th. As in two weeks from yesterday. Or, THIRTEEN days away. No, I’m not freaking out. Why would I freak out? 😀 This is awesome news! You are getting more Silver Moon Saganess (yeah, I just made up a word) in less than two weeks!! Spread the word! Tell your friends! A PROMISE OF MAGIC is coming November 20th!! Get ready!!!
